Contributing to the food supply
The economic crisis we’re experiencing, particularly food shortage can be attributed to the constant increase of the human population. It’s a fact that humans are the dominant species, and we are dominating world, dominating almost every livable land area on the face of the earth! And as we dominate most of the earth’s surface, less land is now being used to agriculture. And if there is no longer land available below, the only thing left to do is look up; this is where Urban Farming comes into the picture.
With Urban Farming, cities with no available land can now produce their own crops on their rooftops! How Urban Farming is made possible? It is made possible through the concept of Hydroponics. It is a technology developed that makes possible to grow plants without soil but with a nutrient solution or a solution made from water and fertilizers as medium. Without soil, people in the city can now grow crops such as tomatoes on their rooftops, and in one way or another contribute to the food supply of their city!
